Principle of design - Art movement

Art  movements were especially important in modern art when each consecutive movement was considered as a new avant-garde . There are many type of art movement . For example , art deco , art nouveau , cubism , naturalism , romanticism , pointillism , tonalism , symbolism , realism ETC .

At first , I am supposed to paint my self portrait using acrylic , watercolour on watercolour paper but I changed my mind , I decided to use the colour pencils and also the markers on a water-colour paper that above 300 grams because I have no experience working with acrylics and the water colour .. I choose art nouveau because I love the floral designs , curve lines and also the patterns . As I know art nouveau was inspired by natural forms and structures, not only in flowers and plants, but also in curved lines.

I tried to draw my curly hair and the figure as well , as you can see I am not that good in drawing the people's features :(

Both of them are my sketches for my self portrait .

This is my final self portrait, I use art nouveau to draw it. It took me 4 hours to draw and about 6 hour to colour it .

Art Nouveau was a movement that swept through the decorative arts and architecture in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The artist of art nouveau is Alphonse Maria Mucha (24 July 1860 - 14 July 1939) was a Czech Art Nouveau painter and decorative artist, most well known for his images of women. He produced many paintings, illustrations, advertisements and designs.
