Assignment : Monogram


Mr.Choy gave us a lecture class about monograms design. We were required to design our monogram according to a theme which each of us received. For me, I got alternative which I'm really stoked about because I truly felt that it is my field. After showing Mr choy my designs, he chooses the one I liked the most. In the end, both of us were happy. 

Our requirements is to present at least 10 sketches for Mr.Choy by the next class. Here are the sketches of my designs.  

Here is my Final Design that I like the most :)

I did two extra phone cases also . I was trying to do the phone cases with two different colour which is Gold and red, I was glad because the final outcome is better than what I expected .

Assignment : interviewing business owners

For this assignments, we are to interview business owners and ask them several questions about their experiences in the business world. I have decided to interview the owner of Ho Seng Hooi ( my dad ) heheh :)

How is your daily business ?

I was a petrol station owner, my daily business operations is 24 hours in three shifts and the sale is about RM60.000.

What happened after GST ?

      Sale after GST slow down slightly especially in the convenience store.

How the economy effects business ?

The economy affected at our business is not very bad compared to other business.

What are the product/services you offer?

We are selling diesel that is 93% crude oil and 7% palm oil, Ron 97 petrol and Ron 95 petrol. We have a convenience store selling confectionery, snacks, grocery, drink and many other things.     

How do you operate?

We operate 24 hours in three shifts 7am to 3pm, 3pm to 11pm and 11pm to 7am. First and second shifts we have 2 cashiers at backcourt and 2 customer service attendance at the forecourt and third 2 cashiers only.

Demand and where you get your supply ?

Most of our customers are from the industrial area nearby and also housings area. The products we get it from Bagan Luar Penang.

Assignment : About Ugly Building

Since that I didn't go for the class trip to Tioman . So Mr choy gave us ( who is not going to the trip ) another assignment . The assignment is about ugly building . Mr choy asked us to go around and take some pictures to show him and describe about the pictures that I took.

Here are some pictures with descriptions that me and Velisa took.

Anonymousity because I do not know what is behind the door.

- Curiosity of what is inside

I feel nostalgic because it reminds me of the area I used to live in. A lot of aircon has been installed.

A false sense of security.

Disgusted. Uncomfortable rather not stay close to this area.

I feel like someone has been peeling at my skin .

I feel cracked and broken like my past is creeping up to me.

After I showing to Mr choy the pictures , he asked me to modify it by using different stuff . 

he asked me not to just write the sentences by pen , can use different ways to present the sentences also. So this is what I ended up with.

I had used the old magazines and I cut the alphabet to stick on it . It looks like more interesting and not bored .

I think that using the old magazines can also match the ' ugly building ' pictures .

I am glad and satisfied with my work =)

Class trip to batik workshop

For this week's class, Mr. Choy had planned a trip for the whole class to visit a batik workshop in Ampang. There, we were given a demonstration on how batik is made, and we were also given the opportunity to try it out ourselves. During the trip, we were told that batik only works well if we were to use a 100% cotton material of fabric.

I had used toothbrush and watercolor to paint it 

After that, during the class, I presented this to Mr. Choy. He asked me to modify it and add more layers to it.
